There capitalized YOU in our YOUth Ministry symbolizes our committment to YOUth through, by and with Jesus Christ our Lord.
The YOUth Ministry program at Ascension serves youths ages 9-18 in a variety of programs that include worship, service and fun activites. Our junior and senior high YOUth Groups meet on the THIRD SUNDAYfrom 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall. We also participate in Diocesan youth events and go on regular outings. JOIN US! FRIENDS WELCOME!

- MARCH 7TH: COTA YOUth Leader meeting following the 1000 service: FIRST SUNDAY COLLOQUIEM with Father AL following the 1000 service: all teens invited! then...4PM YOUth Group; Parish Hall. Pizza; movie; We'll also be making more Shrinky Dink POLAR BEAR PLUNGE earrings in preparation for the upcoming plunge for a good cause!
- MARCH 3-7 MIDDLE SCHOOL HIGH WINTERCAMP in Glen Spey, New York! Woohoo! We'll be going up by bus/ van with other tweens from our Diocese Friday aftertnoon and returning Sunday after we spent time on the climbing wall and ropes course; in the new game room; playing basketball, ice hockey etc.... enjoying the outdoor jacuzzi; eating great food and sharing His Word in music, activities and prayer with other teens from NY; NJ; PA; DE; and who knows where else! COST: $100 minus $50 scholarship from COTA YOUth Ministry = $50 for the best time ever! Registration forms are posted on the YOUth bulletin board; see Father Al or Miss Dale if you are interested in going! HURRY!
- MARCH 14TH rescheduled!!!! POLAR BEAR PLUNGE WEEKEND in Rehoboth Beach. Since we were snowed out of the original plunge date.....YOUth group kids will join other Bear Ascen-Shells from our church in running and plunging for a good cause: SPECIAL OLYMPICS OF DELAWARE. March 13th: run or walk with us in the RUN TO THE PLUNGE; 11:00 on Sunday, March 14th, we'll be selling our fabulous PBP earrings (all proceeds go to SODE!) at the registration table! then 1PM on Sunday March 14th, we'll shiver our timbers in the water as we plunge! POLAR BEAR PLUNGE, FEBRUARY 2009!! The Bear Ascen-Shells raised over $2000 for the Special Olympics! How awesome is that?

Once again, February, 2009, youth from Christ Church, Christiana Hundred, SsAMs; Church of the Ascension, Trinity Parish, Immanuel, Nativity and St. Thomas's Parish participated in a 30-Hour Famine at Christ Church, Greenville. World Vision sponsors this program to raise money to ease world hunger, provide clean water, and to increase awareness. We fasted for 30 hours and participated in activities, worship and service around changing the world. This year, we met God's messengers on the streets of Wilmington and experienced first hand, homelessness, eating at a soup kitchen, and the community, the brotherhood of all His children. We broke our fast with Eucharist followed by a simple supper. Stay tuned for pictures.
